{product} Meaty treats straight to your door with Richard Bosman app

July 10, 2020

One good thing borne from lock-down restrictions, is the innovative responses from our favourite food suppliers to deliver. Finally I can get all my meaty treats delivered to my door with the new Richard Bosman online store and app.

Introduction

We all know how I feel about the simple pleasures in life. One of those is a good quality cheese and charcuterie platter. Rich, creamy wedges of cheese, with delicately cured cuts of meat, brought together with herby, salty biscuits and plump olives. That, and bacon. Oh my, how I adore bacon.

I was delighted when I received a stunning delivery from Richard Bosman recently. The box was generously filled with beautiful streaks of bacon, a charcuterie selection (coppa, bresaola, salami) and some of their new rubs and spices.

Knowing exactly how to showcase the meat selection, I was left wondering what to do with the bacon. I should mention that my other simple pleasure in life (yes, it seems I have many) is the humble bacon-wrapped jalapeño popper.

Background

Richard Bosman’s Quality Cured Meats has launched an online store Richardbosman.co.za as well as home deliveries in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban. They also now have 10 mouth-watering new products available, including Mortadella, Cajun Andouille Sausage, hand-made Bratwurst and Bacon Miso Caramel Sauce.

The online store also offers tasty DIY kits as served at the iconic Oranjezicht Farmers Market in Cape Town over the past few years. The BLT Breakfast Pack for R140 consists of 2 packs of real bacon, 1 jar Baconnaise, a recipe sheet and 6 free range eggs. Add the bread, lettuce and tomato and you are good to go (press release).

New packaging

Making you and the environment happy, Richard Bosman’s Quality Cured Meats has also introduced new eco-friendly packaging.

“We have moved away from vacuum packs to a gas-flushed system where freshly sliced meat is placed in a PET, recyclable tray and all the oxygen is removed. The pack is then filled with a mix of nitrogen and CO2 which are inert and prevent spoilage,” explains Richard. “No more plastic interleaving, no more squashed meats and it’s better for the environment.”

Richard Bosman’s Quality Cured Meats has been producing exceptional Italian and Spanish style charcuterie since 2009. Partnerships with selected South African farmers ensure a consistent source of the very best pasture-reared meats. Hand-salted, hung and cured for 2 to 12 months, the meats are delicious, artisanal fare well worth the wait (press release).

Convenient ordering, straight to your door

You can now order straight from the Richard Bosman website or download the app on your phone, available in both iOS and Android app stores.

The app is super user-friendly, with an easy to navigate interface, bringing all the important information to your finger tips.

The app also gives you the option to collect from Killarney Gardens instead, and you can choose your collection date according to their availability. To deliver to the Deep South, for example, will cost you a R75 delivery fee, but orders over R1000 are free.

I particularly liked how you can search the app (and website) by the type of meat, for example, beef, bacon, hams, salami, sausages or condiments.

Whilst you are loading your basket, please remember to add a few jars of baconnaise and bacon miso caramel sauce – ridiculously, indulgently delicious!

Our platter

That afternoon The Tall Hedonist and I feasted in true Italian style on a cheese and charcuterie platter, with a side of gooey jalapeño poppers. Oh, and copious amounts of red wine.

I included hopelessly too many cheeses, but with a spread like this, you simply can’t hold back. I added wedges of edam, creamy Lancashire, Kasselshoop Pepper Thom and a gorgeously rich camembert.

I made the jalapeño poppers with fresh oversized chillies, and stuffed them to the brim with sweet chilli cream cheese, before lovingly wrapping them in Richard Bosman streaky bacon. Probably one of my last meal scenarios, to be honest.

In conclusion

I am so excited that I’ll be able to get my Richard Bosman fix more often from now on through the app and online store. And an extra bonus is that we can enjoy these treats in the comfort of our own home, hopefully even post-lockdown!

Thank you, Richard Bosman, for the lovely spoils and gift, and for bringing us closer to your delectable range of quality meats!
