{news} Make your Valentine’s Day Sparkle With Bubbly From Perdeberg Cellar

February 6, 2023

This Valentine’s Day, treat that special someone with a bottle of Cap Classique that is beautifully unique as the love you share. This is what you will discover when enjoying either The Vineyard Collection Cap Classique Chenin Blanc (old vine) 2020 or The Vineyard Collection Cap Classique Pinot Noir Rosé 2019. Part of Perdeberg Wines’ premium collection both wines will leave you with a sense of wanderlust.

Regarded as the Home of Chenin Blanc™, only the best grapes were sourced from bush vines in the Agter-Paarl area to create The Vineyard Collection Cap Classique Chenin Blanc 2020, which was planted in 1977. Green in colour with fresh aromas of green pear, Granny Smith apples, lime and grapefruit on the nose. These flavours result in fresh minerality on the palate with a biscuit finish.

Pretty in pink is what comes to mind when admiring the beauty that is The Vineyard Collection Cap Classique Pinot Noir Rosé 2019. Summer in a glass probably best describes the aromas of strawberries, watermelon, cherries and sweets. This carries through to a crisp palate, which is rich and well-defined. Over time the complexity will increase enhancing the biscuit and fresh dough aromas.

What better to serve on Valentine’s Day than oysters with both Cap Classique’s to enhance the flavours of this delicacy perfectly? Also, a match in culinary heaven with seafood dishes. Available directly from the Tasting Room at R140 per bottle, online at Perdeberg’s Online Wine Shop or at selected liquor outlets nationwide. For more information visit https://perdeberg.co.za/.

About Perdeberg

Situated at the foothills of Paardeberg Mountain in Paarl, one of the finest wine-growing areas of the Cape, lies Perdeberg Cellar. The hallmark and most differentiating quality of Perdeberg wines is our predominant use of unirrigated vineyards, termed dry land vines. Overcoming difficult growing conditions, dry land vines yield small berries with concentrated flavour and colour which in turn create superior wines. The winery’s rich history dates back to 1941 when a visionary wine farmer named Jan Rossouw suggested the area’s farmers begin producing their own wine. Perdeberg adopted its distinguishing name from the scores of Cape Mountain zebras that once roamed the Paardeberg area, mistaken for wild horses by local inhabitants.

With a vineyard span of over 3000 hectares, mainly in the Paarl and Swartland regions, Perdeberg benefits from different microclimates and various soil types. The natural variation of weather, soil, drainage and altitude from vineyard to vineyard enables us to produce a wide range of wines with distinct qualities and character. In the cellar, our wines are created through the synergy of art, intuition and science to reveal the best of what has been brought in from the vineyards. We follow a wine estate-inspired process including intensive vineyard management, handpicking grapes in small crates, small presses and maturing in barrels, to achieve exceptional quality.
